My Language

Bangla (Bengali)

This is heart and symbol of Bangla language

Last updated on : 29 August 2002

  • 7th Largest language in the world.
  • Spoken by people of Bangladesh and West Bangla (State of India)
  • Derived from ancient Indian language of Sangscrit.

Bangla is a very widely spoken language (7th largest language in the whole world). About 260 million people speak this language. A modern structure as memorial for the martyrs of 1971 war

This is the language for which a nation was built. These Bengali's are only mad and bold and courageous people in the world who shed their blood for fearing that, their rights of speaking their language freely will be taken forcefully by the Pakistani authority who wanted to introduce "Urdu" as the state language. Whereas Urdu was spoken by minority population of the country. But their bad intention was challenged.... Sons, brothers, fathers etc. sacrificed their lives for opposing the authority in their decision.

It was a bloody day. It was 21st February, 1952, when the revolution started. It is called "Ekushe February". Pak authory at last surrendered to our Ali.e. after 9 months of struggle in 1971. Pak General Niaji is surrendering

21st February is a national mourning day for martyrs. The image you see on top of this page is showing both Bengali alphabets and a memorial known as "Shaheed Minar" - means "Martyr Tomb". It's situated all over throughout this mad country. Thousands of these structures. Where ever they could, they raised a "Shaheed Minar". Every school, college, universities, cultural centres etc. These mad people made a tradition to give flowers in these Tombs in that particular day.
